About me

Brinda Upadhyaya is a retired Senior Lecturer of History from a reputed college in Mumbai, whose life and work reflect a deep commitment to education, compassion, and social impact. Alongside a distinguished academic career, she has spent decades actively working in the field of animal welfare through ASHA (Association for Service and Healing of Animals), an NGO dedicated to the rescue, care, and wellbeing of animals. Her sustained involvement in grassroots welfare work has shaped her broader vision of empathy-driven philanthropy. A freelance journalist as well, Brinda has written extensively on issues related to animal welfare, ethics, and social responsibility for leading publications such as the The Times of India, Mumbai Mirror, and Bombay Times, among others. Through her writing, she has consistently brought attention to the importance of kindness, coexistence, and responsible care for animals. In 2022, together with her husband Ajay Upadhyaya, she co-founded the Upadhyaya Foundation to further their shared commitment to philanthropy and social change. The foundation works across areas including animal welfare, disability inclusion, and community wellbeing. Beyond her professional and philanthropic contributions, Brinda finds inspiration in classical music, which continues to bring depth, balance, and harmony to her life and work.
