Shree Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS) is registered under Rajasthan Societies Registration Act on 29th March 1975, with head office at Jaipur . Since inception till March 2026 Up to March 2026, BMVSS has rehabilitated more than 2.5 million disabled with limbs and other aids and appliances. In recent years, the number of beneficiaries has been above 1,50,000 patients every year, mostly poor and below poverty line. BMVSS has the distinction of being the world’s largest organization for rehabilitation of the disabled.
BMVSS is the parent body of the world-famous Jaipur Foot / limb. With Jaipur limb, a below knee amputee can walk, squat, kneel, run, swim, dance, climb tree / mountain and ride a cycle and drive a car. The above knee amputee also can perform many of these functions. Other aids and appliances are also provided to rehabilitate the disabled. In short, BMVSS provides mobility and dignity to the disabled.
BMVSS is a non-political, non-sectarian, non-religious NGO. BMVSS is a pan-India organization, having 35 branches. (Jaipur and Delhi Centres being the principal branches). It also organises nearly 150 outreach camps all over the country, every year. While BMVSS mostly works in India, it has also held 114 on-the-spot artificial limbs / calipers fitment camps in 47 countries of Asia, Africa and Latin America.
BMVSS has been given Special Consultative Status with the Economic & Social Council of the United Nations Organization. BMVSS thus is an international organization as well.
BMVSS is one of the implementing agency of the Government of India for providing artificial limbs, calipers and other Assistive Devices to the disabled under the ADIP Scheme of the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment (MSJE), across India. BMVSS also organizes 5/6 Camps overseas for Govt of India, under Mission “ India for Humanity” and provides 5000-6000 Artificial Limbs every year.
BMVSS also collaborates with different states of India for implementation of their respective Schemes aimed to support Disabled and Elderly persons. Last year BMVSS provided nearly 20000 Assistive Devices in Rajasthan. It operates a BMVSS Centre in Khorda ( Odisha) for Govt of Odisha, on Cost basis and under a similar arrangement with Govt of Madhya Pradesh, BMVSS provides Artificial Limbs to needy persons throughout Madhya Pradesh. BMVSS has also signed an agreement with Govt of Uttar Pradesh to organize Jaipur Foot Camps in few of its Districts.
BMVSS has combined service with science. The Stanford University, MIT USA, Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and some IIT’s as also many companies have entered into MOUs with BMVSS for scientific work. The Jaipur Knee developed by Stanford University and BMVSS, has been hailed by the Time Magazine USA (issue of 23rd November 2009) as one of the 50 best inventions of the world.
BMVSS, with the support of its Donors, provides artificial limbs, calipers, Crutches, Walkers, Walking Sticks, Wheel Chairs, hand-paddled & Motorised tricycles, Hearing Aids and other Assistive Devices to the disabled and Elderly persons, totally free of charge.
