Information
Shaheen, herself a survivor, started working for acid attack survivors in 2013. She would connect survivors with legal counselling and help them find medical aid. She built a network with social activists, lawyers, doctors, hospitals, government officials, psychologists, and law enforcement. She soon realised that this was a haphazard system and survivors had to bear the responsibility of figuring out whom to approach and in what way to manage the various challenges of their condition. Thus, the Brave Souls Foundation was conceived in July 2021. BSF-India acts as a one-stop system and solution for all the needs and requirements of acid attack survivors, equipped with a shelter home centric approach, as a network of various stakeholders that help and work for the holistic rehabilitation of acid attack survivors ranging from surgeries and treatments to their successful resocialisation and reintegration into civic life.
