Information

DAI’s mission is to make a lasting difference in the world by helping people improve their lives. DAI envisions a world in which communities and societies become more prosperous, fairer and better governed, safer, healthier, and environmentally more sustainable. DAI tackles fundamental social and economic development problems caused by inefficient markets, ineffective governance, and instability. DAI works with a wide range of clients, including national and local governments, bilateral and multilateral donors, private corporations, and philanthropies. Since 1970, DAI has worked in more than 150 countries—delivering results across the spectrum of international development contexts, from stable societies and high-growth economies to challenging environments racked by political or military conflict.

DAI Global LCC (DAI) is implementing the USAID Responsible Investment and Trade Activity (the Activity). The Activity is a five-year (2020–2025) activity that works with a broad range of international and domestic private sector firms to increase company resiliency; improve corporate governance, business transparency, and competitiveness; promote economic integration for the benefit of people in non-urban areas; and empower women to participate in the economy more fully.

The Activity is taking a facilitative ecosystem-strengthening approach and will achieve objectives through a variety of initiatives including but not limited to the following:

  • Assisting companies — primarily SMEs — to increase their access to finance and grow sustainably both domestically and internationally.
  • Assisting companies and investors to invest responsibly in Myanmar SMEs.
  • Helping Myanmar’s next generation of women leaders to become directors through the Women Directors Program.
  • Increasing SME directors’ and owners’ capacity in corporate governance and financial management.
  • Creating greater awareness of the value of integrating gender equality and social inclusion in businesses.
  • Building capacity in Myanmar’s solar energy sector through the provision of specialized training.
