Global Leadership Academy: Enabling the South-south Learning

The Global Leadership Academy (GLA) is a global initiative powered by AVPN that aims to facilitate South-south learning and amplify the unheard voices of leaders in the Global South. It combines unlearning, relearning, and exploring to contribute to better, more localised solutions to respond to SDG gaps in the Global South. There are many leaders in the Global South with knowledge and wisdom that contribute to the advancement of the SDGs in their community, but their voices continue to be underrepresented in global narratives. As a result, local knowledge and wisdom remain untapped and unheard. This leads to suboptimal solutions for targeted beneficiaries and communities, which results in inequitable and unsustainable development and growth. In response to these perpetuating issues, in the past year, AVPN has worked with 40+ impact leaders from 10 countries. These impact leaders are mainly from grassroots communities in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. With the impact leaders, the GLA piloted learning spaces that could facilitate relationship-building and learning among them.
